May 25 - June 8, 2021
For years I've had friends tell me I would love the Pacific Northwest, but I'd never visited until a few weeks ago. A DC friend has been hopping around the US this year and landed in Portland for a few months, and invited me to come stay with her in her family's empty home in Lake Oswego for a few weeks. We worked during the week like normal, but I was still on East Coast hours so I had the afternoons free, and we spent the evenings and weekends exploring.
Things we did that I'd recommend:
- Powell's
- hike to Witch's House
- Japanese gardens
- Stumptown Coffee
- Voodoo Doughnuts
- Pearl District
- Papa Haydn
- hike Wahkeena to Multnomah
- kayak on the Tualatin
- high tea at Clockwork Rose (world's only steampunk tea house)
- hike Tamanawas Falls in Mount Hood National Forest
- cooking class with Sur le Table
