Life Lately | September

I returned home to Raleigh from a summer in DC at the tail end of August, ready to drive on less crowded roads and be amongst familiar faces but also very ready to return to DC in a more permanent fashion. I applied for several jobs in the DC area that, with my relevant experience and connections via my work experience, I had a good shot at getting, and I was planning to stay in Raleigh for a few weeks and then settle into the busy DC life mid-late September.

And yet - it is the end of September, the jobs went to other well qualified candidates, and nothing else has yet come up. So here I remain in Raleigh for the foreseeable future, continuing to apply for jobs both here and in DC and to take each day one at a time. I feel like I'm repeating this past spring; I'm doing the exact same things, only this time it's less exciting because I'm several months further past graduation and the sheen of a life unplanned ahead has worn off.

In the meantime though, I'm making new, short term goals and routines. I'm working my way through the Man Booker longlist. I'm making regular swimming + coffee dates with a childhood friend. I'm studying Old Testament typology. I'm - as pictured above - revisiting all of my favorite coffee shops and cafes in the Triangle. I'm re-integrating weekly coffee dates with two of my best friends from college. I attended Oktoberfest at a local brewery with more college friends.

This month characterised much of this past year with lots of highs and lows, but here's to continuing to hope that one of these days (hopefully soon), everything will get worked out.
