Nur zwei Monate? // Only Two Months?

I realised recently with a bit of panic that I only have two months left of my semester-long exchange program. Two months sounds like a long time but when I think about the fact that nearly four months have already passed and I still in some ways feel like I just arrived, I know these final weeks will fly by. With my school load rising and my bank account value dropping, I'll be spending more time in Mannheim and less time traveling, but I still have a number of things I want to do while I'm here. To help me stay on track, I've made a little list of activities/trips/experiences I want to do before I leave in June:

  • A day trip to Speyer. I had planned on visiting this nearby town in January, but the day I almost went it was windy and snowy and no one wanted to be outside any longer than necessary. Since then, it's stayed in the back of my mind but I've never made the effort to actually go.
  • Another trip to France. Even if it's just to Wissembourg for the afternoon, I would love to visit one more time.
  • Eat Spaghetti Eis. Spaghetti Eis is a type of ice cream that Mannheim is famous for, and I've still yet to try it.
  • Spend a day in Heidelberg and eat at Emma and Schmelzpunkt. Emma is an adorable pizza place and Schmelzpunkt has the most incredible hot chocolate I have ever tried. I'd love to go back to Heidelberg at least one more time and visit both places again.
  • Spend an afternoon on the river. Now that the weather has turned warmer, loads of people spend hours picnicking on the banks of the Rhine and Neckar rivers. Even if I just took some class work or a book, I wouldn't mind some extra time in the sun.
  • Stars Bar. Located on the top of Paradeplatz, this bar offers a fantastic view of the city (or so I've been told), and even though it's a little pricey I'd like to visit at least once.
  • An afternoon trip to Luisenpark. This was one of the places I'd heard the most about when I looked into things to see in Mannheim before I lived here. Luisenpark seems more like a mini zoo than what I tend to think of as a "park" and it looks like a fun place to spend a few hours.
