staycation

I recently took a week off work for a staycation. Before the week began, I made a list of things I'd like to do, but as the week approached, I felt less and less inclined to cram the week full. Instead I took each day slowly, setting no alarms, doing nothing in a hurry, pushing off plans from morning to afternoon or to the next day.

The week passed blissfully, slowly. I hiked at Great Falls; spent a day in DC walking around the Mall, getting coffee in Blagden Alley, and slurping ramen in Chinatown; saw Yumi Zouma with a friend; walked around Theodore Roosevelt Island with a new friend; saw the new Batman movie; spent an evening at my least favorite Irish pub with friends; and visited multiple coffeeshops to journal.

I'm back to work today, but this week has been a much needed break and a reminder to use my vacation days more regularly.
