Recent Reads | February

It's been a looooong time since I've compiled a monthly round-up of all the books I read, and I felt another was due.

Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
Between the World and Me is a difficult book to review as it's so deeply personal and so far from what I know that I feel as though my opinion is irrelevant - it's a book to learn from, to gain a new perspective from, but it's not authored for me. Coates wrote Between the World and Me as a letter to his teenage son to describe his experiences growing up as a black person in Baltimore and how his upbringing influenced his outlook on life. It's emotionally charged, angry and difficult to read at times, yet so necessary to comprehending the disparity between the way white people and black people move through life in America.
